Monroe County Friends of Animals
One of our Wishing Well recipients has been the Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA) in Madisonville. Besides caring for and adopting out stray and abandon animals, they also have partnered with the SPCA of Upstate New York. They send 50-75 adults, puppies and kittens each month to the no kill shelter, where following strict adoption procedures, they are adopted to loving families within days of arrival. MCFA receives updates from New York as new homes are found.
Strict health procedures and rabies vaccinations are required of each animal included in the transport. These animals are fostered in volunteered homes for a minimum of 2 weeks before they are eligible to be included in the run. This rescue effort costs upward of $600 per run for medical care, van rental and gasoline and is totally funded by MCFA and other generous donors. If If you would like to sponsor a Rolling Rescue or foster puppies for the two weeks before the run, please contact Shelter Director Vicki Morgan at 423-442-1015 for information. Volunteers are also needed to help out at the Shelter in a variety of positions.
The recipients are most grateful beneficiaries of your many gifts. If you have any ideas that you would like for your Mission Team to consider or need more information on the agencies that we support, please call Fred Quance at 408-2588.
